When the dead fight the dead, where does that leave the living? That’s the question as the legendary George Romero unleashes the final chapter in his new undead epic in GEORGE ROMERO’S EMPIRE OF THE DEAD: ACT THREE #1! Debuting in April, it’s zombies vs. vampires – with the desperate, last surviving humans caught in the crossfire! Writer George Romero and artist Andrea Mutti bring you the closing saga in the epic war between living and dead!

Welcome back to NYC, years after the horrifying plague has swept the nation. The Big Apple is a quarantine zone – but that doesn’t guarantee safety! There are predators within the walls. Vampires lurk in the shadows preying on the living and the undead alike. But with the zombies seemingly growing smarter each and every day, the war between the two dead factions begins heating up!

“Romero understands the wide possibilities of the comic format and has used it to tell his biggest, most epic story to date,” says series Editor Jake Thomas. “In this final chapter the narrative bomb he’s been carefully constructing under Empire of the Dead’s Manhattan goes off with a bang! There are dangers coming from all sides, no one is safe, and blood will flow. It’s everything an undeadhead would want from the Godfather of Zombies himself, George Romero!”

Meanwhile, who is kidnapping the children of NYC? Where are they taking them and why? The future of Manhattan and humanity itself may rest in the answers! Don’t miss this excellent jumping on point when the zombie godfather and horror visionary’s next undead epic reaches its climactic chapter in April’s GEORGE ROMERO’S EMPIRE OF THE DEAD: ACT THREE #1!

‘Action Comics’ #1 Soars to $1.6 million

The finest copy of Action Comics #1, the comic containing the first appearance of Superman, known to be in existence soared to $1.6 million dollars in its first day of an eBay auction that will last from August 12 to August 24th.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the comic will be donated to the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation for spinal cord research.

The comic currently up for bids on eBay is one of only 2 copies to receive a “9.0” rating from the Certified Guaranty Company.  The other 9.0 copy belonged to actor Nicholas Cage and was sold for a record $2.16 million in 2011, after the book, which had been stolen from the actor’s home, was recovered .

The copy of Action Comics #1, which is now on eBay, has “white pages,” while the Nic Cage copy had off-color pages that had yellowed due to age.  The current owner of the book up for auction has reportedly turned down an offer of $3 million for the book in favor of putting it up for auction where it could conceivably fetch an even higher price

Why Not This Week?:

Advisory #1
Dear Diamond Customer:

As posted on the Retailer Services Website, Diamond performed a necessary upgrade to the logistics software that manages its hub operations in the Olive Branch Distribution Center on July 26 and 27.

Unfortunately, some issues have arisen that did not present themselves during our extensive testing. These issues have impacted the processing of Direct Ship Reorders placed after July 25 and Reship Reorders that would have been picked and packed this week for delivery with product on sale August 13.

Please be advised that Reship Reorders will be delayed by at least one week, and Direct Ship Reorders will be delayed by one or more days.

While Diamond’s Logistics and IT staffs are working alongside specialists from the company’s software consultants to address the issues, it has not yet been determined when reorder shipping will return to its normal schedule. Diamond Daily and the website will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Diamond apologizes for the inconvenience, and thanks you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues. If you have additional questions regarding this advisory, please contact your Diamond Retailer Services Representative. Thank you.

Advisory #2
Dear Diamond Customer:

Diamond Comic Distributors’ Olive Branch Distribution Center and IT staffs, along with our software consultants, are making good progress in addressing issues that came to light following a planned software and hardware upgrade at the facility. We first advised you of these issues via email on July 29.

“Despite the challenges we encountered due to issues that didn’t arise in numerous tests, most Direct Ship Reorders will be shipped this week,” says Diamond’s Olive Branch Executive Director Shawn Hamrick. “As we move into the week of August 4, every effort will be made to ship Direct Ship Reorders by the end of the day if they are placed before the appropriate cutoff time.

“I should remind our customers that this is never guaranteed,” Hamrick said, “and it may take an additional day or more as we work through the backlog created during this disruption.

“Everyone here at the Distribution Center deeply appreciates the patience of our customers,” Hamrick added, “as we do all that we can to get back on our normal schedules.”

Is BSG’s Katee Sackhoff Gearing Up (Literally) To Play A Superhero?

Over the last few days, actress Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Longmire) has Tweeted some very interesting clues regarding a “super secret job”, and it certainly looks like she’s being fitted for some type of costume.

Battlestar Galactica actress and comic book fan Katee Sackhoff has spoken several times in the past about one day suiting up as a superhero/villain, and has dropped a few hints that there may have even been a few things in the pipeline. There was never anything concrete to report, but she has expressed a fondness for characters such as Ms/Captain Marvel and Harley Quinn. Now Katee has taken to Twitter to post a few cryptic clues about her next “super secret job”, and it would appear she’s being fitted for some very superhero-ish headgear.
